Enchi (w/r) Mar. 5 GNA – Mr. Justice Y. Enning, the Aowin-Suaman district director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on the various political parties to be tolerant of each other before, during and after the December general elections.
He said without political tolerance, the country’s quest for a smooth and stable democracy would be in vain.
Mr. Enning said these at a day’s forum on the forthcoming voters’ registration exercise and the roles that the various political parties could play to make the exercise successful.
Representatives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), People’s National Convention (PNC) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP) attended the forum.
Mr. Enning charged the leaders of the various political parties to educate their members on the exercise and the need for them to avoid double registration and other offences
“Such practices, would not make the voters register credible and thus lead to conflicts after each election.”
Mr. Enning charged voters not to engage in confrontations with people of other political persuasions adding, “the constitution guarantees the freedom of association and nobody should be forced to join a particular political party against his or her wish.”
He advised the party supporters to avoid utterances that may inflame passions on any of the local FM stations or at any public places to avoid a confrontation.
