Ghanaians urged to show interest in Government’s policies

Kumasi, Jan. 1, GNA – Ghanaians have been advised to demonstrate hig= h sense of commitment and responsiveness to the socio-economic policies and programmes of the Government to make life better for all.

Delivering sermons at separate watch-night services in Kumasi to usher in the New Year (2011), Reverend Yao Olympio of the Marcy Baptist Church and Rev John Appiah of the Faith Outreach Ministry, noted that Ghana had the ability to achieve its developmental goals, but that depended on ho= w time, human and natural resources were managed as well as people becoming responsible citizens. He said God had blessed the nation with huge potentials and that there was the need for unity of purpose and consensus=96building among stakeholders for effective utilization of these resources. Rev Olympio said as the nation ushered in the New Year, people neede= d to change from 93their old ways of doing things and resolve to work harder= to increase productivity.”

On his part, Rev Appiah appealed to people to accept to live in tota= l peace and harmony and to purge the society of the creeping division and ethnocentrism. He said they must all work to uphold the values binding the nation together as one people with a common destiny. Preaching at the Pentecostal Life Church International at Old Tafo, Rev Daniel Anane-Peprah, the Head Pastor, asked people to be honest and transparent and repudiate bribery and other corrupt practices that were unhelpful to the progress of the nation. He said it was important for all to appreciate that sustainable national growth demanded the collective effort of the citizenry. Rev Appiah said it was therefore the duty of all to work assiduously towards the achievement of the 93Better Ghana Agenda.” He prayed to God to continue to shower his blessings on the country and guide the political leadership in the performance of their duties to deepen democracy and good governance.
