Ghanaians urged to resolve to be proactive this year

Cape Coast, Jan. 4, GNA – The Superintendent Minister, of the Wesley Methodist Church in Cape Coast, the Very Reverend Isaac Kweku Sam, on Sunday urged Ghanaians to resolve to lead lives that would bring about development and progress to the nation.

“Ghanaians wherever, they find themselves, whether in the public or private sector should be proactive in every facet of their lives if the economy of the nation should improve.”

Rev. Sam in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Sunday, after praying for peace for the nation at a church service to mark the celebration of the 11th anniversary of the fourth republic, exhorted Ghanaians to acknowledge the fact that no matter their religious, ethnic or political differences they were one people bonded by a common destiny.

” We should all bear this in mind and avoid any act that would bring about divisions and retard our progress as a nation”, he added. On the electioneering campaign for the 2004 general elections, the he urged all politicians and their followers to eschew any smear campaign or negative tendencies that would disrupt the peace Ghanaians were enjoying.

He stressed that at the end of the general elections, whoever won would need peace and the unity of all Ghanaians to rule the country and therefore, appealed to all to be circumspect in their messages during the period.

Rev. Sam also appealed to churches and organisations to offer spiritual and material support to street children and remand homes to help bring smiles on the faces of those unfortunate ones who found themselves there.
