Ghanaians urged to remain optimistic after verdict

The New Bishop of Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church, Right Reverend Dr Kweku Buabeng-Odoom, has said Ghanaians should remain optimistic as peace would prevail after the verdict of the Supreme Court is announced.

He said the NPP, not satisfied with the 2012 Presidential election results, has petitioned the Supreme Court and all parties should accept the verdict to ensure peace in the country.

Bishop Buabeng-Odoom said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Swedruhene, Nana Okrupi Aseidu Kobina Botwe at his palace at Agona Swedru,

He was there to officially introduce himself to the Swedruhene after assuming office as the Winneba Diocesan Bishop of Methodist Church.

He said any political upheaval after the verdict must be avoided to deepen the democracy of the country.

Bishop Buabeng-Odoom advised the political parties to ensure that there is peace in the country after August 29 Supreme Court verdict saying if there is chaos in the country it would be difficult for everyone including politicians to perform their duties.

Bishop Buabeng-Odoom said the Winneba Diocese of Methodist Church has completed plans to establish a Senior High School at Agona Swedru.

He said this is to complement the effort of the government at making education accessible to all children of school going age.

Nana Botwe praised the Methodist Church for elevating Bishop Buabeng-Odoom to the position and urged him to work to promote the church.

The Swedruhene said land will be made available to the Church for the establishment of the school.
