Ghanaians urged to reflect on colonial rule

Kumasi, July 1, GNA – A politician has appealed to Ghanaians to use the Republic Day Celebration to reflect on the legacies of colonial rule and free themselves from colonial mentality.

Mr Kwame Appiah Boateng, a member of the CPP, said “Ghana’s celebration of the Republic Day is meaningless unless the country frees itself from the dictates of neo-colonialist and imperialist powers”. He said the nation had been in a neo-colonialist status since the overthrow of Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s government and urged “brave Ghanaians” to emulate the examples of “brave Americans” who asserted their independence and sovereignty.

Mr Boateng who has declared his intension to contest the 2008 CPP presidential slot.
