Ghanaians urged to make medical check-ups a regular feature

Apam, July 20, GNA – The Apam Improvement Association in London has donated medical equipment worth 4,000 pounds to the Apam Catholic Hospital. The items included blood pressure monitors and stethoscopes. The Organiser of the Apam Improvement Association in London, Mr. Alex Ekumah who presented the items, said the donation was in response to an appeal the hospital’s management made to the association last year. The association, he said, was concerned with the health needs of their people at home and would support the hospital to deliver quality services to them.

Rev. Sister Mary-Magdalene Attah-Mensah, the Matron who received the items, thanked the association and said the items would enhance health delivery at the hospital.

She appealed for more donations from Gomoa citizens living outside. Mr. Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive, appealed to citizens of the district residing outside especially to support the assembly to give Apam a face lift to befit its status as a district capital. He said he would launch a special appeal for funds for the development of Apam during the Akomase festival of the people in September. He said the streets and sanitation situation in the town were an eye-sore and did not befit a district capital and appealed to citizens living home and abroad to contribute cash or in kind to save the town from further deterioration when the appeal is launched. 20 July 09
