Ahomahomasu (E/R), Aug 6, GNA – The Fanteakwa District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Ebenezer Ofoe-Ceasar, on Thursday appealed to Ghanaians to be patient with the NPP Government since it was pursuing good policies to improve the standard of living of the people. He said: “Three-and-half years in Government cannot be compared to the eight years of NDC rule. If we were able to endure hardships under the NDC for that long it is also fair for us to give the NPP a chance to rule”.
Mr Ofoe-Ceaser, who was speaking at a durbar at Ahomahomasu to mark the inauguration of school buildings in four communities in the district, said the NPP would fulfil its promises.
The blocks of 6-units, which cost 358 million cedis each, were funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under the Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIPS) Programme with assistance from the District Assembly.
The beneficiary communities are Osino, Bepoase, Feyiase and Ahomahomasu. They provided communal labour, sand, water and stone to the tune of 60 million cedis while the Assembly made available 252 million cedis.
Mr Ofoe-Ceaser said the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), was the “surest way” to ensure that poor people are not denied medical attention.
He asked the people to pay the 72,000 cedis per year NHIS premium and said it was “nowhere near bills incurred for the treatment of many common ailments”.
Mr Ofoe-Ceasar said some politicians were criticising the scheme because they had realized that Ghanaians would benefit from it thereby making the Government popular and asked the people to ignore people who would discourage them from embracing the scheme.
The representative of QUIPS, Mr Michael Amanor-Mfoafo, said the programme had spent about 29.8 billion cedis so far on new blocks of classroom, renovation of classrooms and the building of teacher’s quarters to improve education in the country.
