Ghanaians urged to be concerned about orphans

Accra, Nov.24, GNA- Orphanage International Ministry, a Non Governmental Organisation on Saturday organised a fundraising ceremony to enable it organise Christmas parties for its 27 associate members spread throughout the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pastor Samuel Afari, who is the president of the ministry appealed to society not to neglect orphans but do all that they could for them since they also had something good to offer when given the necessary attention. He said every year, his NGO organises Christmas parties for the inmates of the all the 27 associate orphanages so that they would also have the feel of the festivities and not felt left out. He called on all Ghanaians to help make lives of orphans in the country joyous by becoming concerned about their well-being and most importantly supporting them both in cash and in kind. He expressed his appreciation to CAL Bank, Kingdom Transport and Ghana Private Road Transport Union and all other corporate bodies for their support towards the activities of the ministry. The Reverend Stephen Bafie, the Guest Speaker also urged Ghanaians not to shun orphans but rather help them in any way that they could since they had no one to care for them.

He said God is very much concerned about the welfare of orphans and widows in the society and that any one who tried to trample on their rights would face His wrath. The fundraising yielded 2.5 million cedis.
