Apimso (ER), July 16, GNA – Mr Gustav Narh-Dometey, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, has advised Ghanaians not to vote for political parties that exhibit the inclination of perpetuating human rights abuses if giving the political mandate.
He said the poor human rights record of some parties should be the yardstick for the electorate to vote against them, as a means of guarding and promoting their fundamental human rights.
Addressing the chiefs and people of Apimso near Asesewa, in the Manya Krobo District, Mr Narh-Dometey told the electorate to demonstrate in the December polls, that they are on the side of economic emancipation and personal freedom that the NPP was championing.
He said the forthcoming election was a choice between the continuation of NPP’s prudent economic policies and enhancement of individual liberties or voting for political parties, noted for the implementation of stagnant fiscal policies in the past.
Mr Narh-Dometey, who is contesting the Upper Manya parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NPP, also indicated the intention of the ruling Party to construct a Junior Secondary School (JSS) to cater for about five communities in the Apimso area.
Mr Christopher Otuah, spokesperson for the communities, said lack of JSS in the area had compelled parents to either let their children dropout of school or allow them to continue in near-by communities at a high cost.
He also stressed the need for the Government to improve road network in the area.
Mr Otuah claimed that the only tarred road linking the communities constructed by British colonial Governor, Guggisberg was in a deplorable state.
The Upper Manya Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Mr Joe Sam, urged the people to support political parties that have their welfare at heart.
