Ejisu (Ash), April 12, GNA – The youth have been urged to show concern towards the preservation of the nation’s cultural heritage. Nana Ampaw K. Beadiako, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Royal Image Concepts, who gave the advice, said they should cherish and uphold traditional values and must reflect in their way of life. He said he was concerned about the situation where many young people adore foreign cultures and despise anything Ghanaian. Mr Bediako, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Ejisu, said cultural adulteration, which was fuelling the people’s taste for foreign goods, was unhelpful to the country’s socio-economic development. Indecent dressing, indiscipline and violence among the youth should be blamed on the neglect of “our traditional way of life.” He therefore called on chiefs to provide the needed leadership to help the youth to develop self-confidence and promote the rich culture of the nation.
Mr Bediako said it should not be lost on anyone that “culture gives us our identity as a people” and “we must therefore take pride in our culture.” He encouraged parents to accept the responsibility of aiding their children to grow up with acceptable values of the society. 12 April 10
