Ghanaians should be proud of the 50th anniversary celebration

Kumasi, Jan 17, GNA – Mrs Mary Asante, Deaconess of the Church of Pentecost at Suame in Kumasi, has said that the 50th anniversary celebration of Ghana is an important historical event of which every Ghanaian should be proud.

He has therefore stressed the need for Ghanaians to thank God for His guidance, protection and blessings over the years. Mrs Asante was preaching a sermon organised by the Ashanti Region Women’s Prayer Group (ASHRWOP) in Kumasi on Wednesday as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary celebration of Ghana. The group made up of women from various churches and other voluntary organisations sang praises to God and thanked Him for his guidance and protection over the years.

She commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for its good governance and democracy as a result of the sound economic policies for the country.

Mrs Asante observed that the fundamental human rights being enjoyed in the country is attributed to the good governance of the government and hoped that such a freedom would be sustained for the development of the country.

The Deaconess stressed the need for the people to unite and contribute meaningfully towards nation building. She urged women groups and associations to lead the crusade to champion the course of women to enable them to play vital roles in the country.

Mrs. Mary Brobbey, Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the NPP, praised the government for the peace and stability, which the country has been enjoying.

Special prayers were offered by the group for the government, ministers and other political leaders to ensure prosperity and development of Ghana.
