*Survey shows 68% think President Mills “on track to deliver”
*60% say opposition NPP “focused on trivial things”
London, United Kingdom — An April 15-17 Policy & Strategy Associates, Inc. survey in Ghana reveals positive opinions of Ghanaian voters towards their new Government. With just about 100 days in Government, 74% of respondents nationwide are “highly optimistic” about Ghana’s future under the new NDC Government.
When asked how the NPP is performing its job so far in opposition, 60% of respondents say the opposition NPP is “focused on trivial things”, 25% say they are “performing well” and 11% think they are “not performing well”.
When asked to rank what problems they expect the new Government to fix as a priority, 31% mentioned the “high cost of living”, 16% “roads and infrastructure”, 15% “electricity and energy”, 10% “schools and education”, while 10% stated “health care and hospitals” as their main priority areas.
Also, President John Atta-Mills’s positive job performance ratings remain high as seen in a similar Policy & Strategy Associates, Inc. survey concluded on March 9. Now, 75% of likely Ghanaian voters approve of his job performance, down 4 points on our last survey. At the same time, 23% disapprove of President Atta-Mills’s performance.
Responses on the President and his Government’s ability to deliver NDC manifesto promises shows that 68% think President Atta-Mills is “on track to deliver”, with 19% of respondents saying he is “off track to deliver”.
This survey of 1,221 likely Ghanaian voters (margin of error = +/-2.8 percentage points) asked questions that gauge opinions on the state of the nation and its elected Government.
