Ghanaians must unite in their effort to protect the peace – Judge

An Appeal Court Judge, Justice Dennis Adjei, has reminded Ghanaians about the need to unite in their effort to protect the nation’s peace.

They should be responsible and decent in their conduct, accept to be tolerant of views they might not necessarily share and repudiate violence.

He asked that the taunts, insults and vilification of political opponents that unfortunately were becoming associated with the country’s politics must end.

He said having agreed to travel the path of multi-party democracy, the expectation was that all would do everything to play by the rules of the game.

Justice Adjei was addressing a three-day annual pastors and laity conference of the Brotherhood Church in Kumasi.

“Live together in election year and beyond” was the theme of the meeting, which brought together delegates from Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo.

Justice Adjei expressed discomfort with the unbridled use of the FM Radio Stations and said some level of sanity should be restored.

The Right Reverend Seth Adofo, Primate of the Church, appealed to the people not to allow themselves to be torn apart by politics.

He also called on the leadership of the political parties and their supporters to uphold the values of fairness, transparency and integrity.

He again asked all to pray fervently to God for his grace and continued blessing of the nation.**
