An art exhibition mounted by seven Ghanaians who live and work abroad opened at the Artist Alliance in Accra on Thursday evening.
The artists, two females and five males, had their basic art foundations and training in Ghana, but have for the past 20 years or more been living and working abroad.
Professor Florence Abena Dolphyne, former head of the Department of Linguistics, University of Ghana, who chaired the function, said in a welcoming address that 15 years ago, the Artist Alliance Gallery was opened at Nungua in Accra.
However, due to certain constraints the core business of giving exposure to contemporary Ghanaian Art was relocated to the new site at La in Accra.
Stressing the significance of the exhibition, she said art was a cultural phenomenon and the immediate cultural environment had a direct bearing on work of art.
There is therefore European Art, American Art, Japanese Art, Chinese Art, among others.
Two of the artists who were present were Kate Badoe and J.C. Sarpong who live and work in the USA.
