Ghanaians in New York welcome new Consul General

With barely ten months into office, the Nana Akufo-Addo led government has taken its message of hope to Ghanaians in the diaspora.

This assurance has been given at the various Ghanaian communities in the New York metropolis where H.E. Professor Samuel Amoako has been introduced as the new Consul General.

As part of the activities to introduce himself to the community, the Consul General was at the Bronx First Ghana Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday, October 7th 2017, to interact with worshipers and outline his vision to the congregants.

Earlier, he had visited YANKASA Association, the fastest growing Ghanaian Muslim community in the Bronx where he received a very warm welcome from chiefs, community leaders, and the members of the association.

The Consul General stated that the mission’s strategy must change in tandem with the President’s resolve to industrialize the economy. Thus, his focus will be to woe investors–Ghanaian and expatriate–to Ghana, unlike in the past when the consulate’s activities were limited to services.

He told the congregation that one of his accomplishments soon after assuming office was clearing the backlogs of passport and visa applications. His assumption of office also signaled the ushering in of an era of professionalism and courtesy among the rank and file of the staff at the consulate, he declared. Consequently, the services of the middlemen, also known as ‘goro boys,’ would be eliminated from the consulate forthwith.

Henceforth, passports and visas can be acquired within ten and three business days, respectively.

The Consul General urged the Ghanaian community to approach him any time they need his help and asked for their prayers and support. He was accompanied by Mr. Issah Ballah Saeed, NPP New York Financial Secretary and NPP USA Acting Deputy National Organizer.
