Ghanaians criticised for apathy

Bechem (B/A), Aug 4, GNA – A religious leader has identified ignorance about political and civic issues as major contributory factors to political intolerance and violence in the country.

The Reverend C.N. Aduamoah, Minister in-charge of the Presbyterian Church at Bechem, therefore, urged Ghanaians to be abreast with political developments and civil rights issues to enable them to contribute to the promotion of peace and security in the country.

He was speaking at a forum organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to sensitise the public on the role of stakeholders in promoting tolerance for peaceful elections at Bechem.

Mr Christian Offei Boafo, acting Tano District Director of the Commission, noted that many countries in the West African sub-region had witnessed chaos and anarchy during elections and called on Ghanaians to work towards peace and security in the forthcoming elections. He said: “It is for this reason that the NCCE consider it appropriate to educate the public on the need to ensure peace and security.
