Ghanaians cautioned against the politicisation of the NHIS

Sefwi-Wiaso, (W/R), Dec.17, GNA-Dr J.K Amoabeng, Sefwi-Wiaso District Director of Health Services, has cautioned Ghanaians against the tendency by some knowledgeable and influential persons in society to politicise the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to discredit it. Dr Amoabeng who was speaking at a day’s workshop organised for 78 health insurance collectors in the District on Wednesday did not specifically mention the people he was referring to, but expressed regret that they were concocting negative stories about the well intended Scheme meant to cater for the health needs of especially the poor and destitute.

He appealed to people in the District to ignore the negative campaign and register massively with the Scheme to enjoy the numerous benefits.

Mr Emmanuel Attah-Marfo, District Manager of the NHIS, tasked the collectors to work hard to convince the people to embrace the Scheme to enable them access quality health care delivery.
