Ghanaians based in Italy donate items to Cherubs Orphanage

Kumasi, Jan. 4, GNA- Members of the Asanteman Union based at Pordenonet and Udine in Italy at the week-end donated some items worth 1,000 Ghana Cedis to the inmates of the Cherubs Orphanage at Ampampatia near Santasi, in Kumasi.

The include bags of rice, cartons of milk, yams, sets of jerseys, assorted soap, toys and mineral drinks. Mr William Opoku Amanfo, Leader of the delegation of the Union, making the donation said the items were their widow’s mite towards the upkeep of the orphans.

He said the Union had also made similar donations to other institutions including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi Children’s Home. Mampong, Agogo, Jachie Pramso and Offinso Hospitals. Mr Opoku Amanfo appealed to the government to reduce the freight taxes to help the union procure more items to assist the needy in society at all times

Mr and Mrs. Osei Bonsu, Owners of the Home who received the items, thanked the donors for the gesture and pledged to utilise them judiciously towards the upkeep of the children. They said the orphans were occupying rented premises and therefore appealed to individual philanthropists, churches and organizations to come to their aid with funds towards the construction of permanent accommodation for them. 04 Jan. 09
