Ghanaians asked to unite in the interest of national development

Winneba(C/R), Jan. 29, GNA – The Venerable Samuel Arhin, Priest in charge of the Winneba Anglican Church, has expressed worry about the division in the nation along political lines and has advised Ghanaians to reconcile and forge ahead in unity. According to him, “building a sustainable democratic environment, requires the effort of all Ghanaians, irrespective of political affiliations”.

Venerable Arhin was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Winneba at the weekend. He reminded Ghanaians that every individual has a right to join and support any political party in the country, and this must not create enmity among them.

The Anglican Priest advised married couples who were divorcing on political grounds to re-consider their decision, so that their children would not suffer and become burdens to society. Venerable Arhin asked men of God to unite their congregation through their preaching, and advised Pastors who openly declare their political affiliations to stop the practice because it could divide the church. “The competitive nature of the 2008 general elections has created enmity in society and even in the church,” he said. The Anglican Priest appealed to the clergy to help unite the people of Ghana to accelerate the pace of national development.
