Offinso (Ash), May 21, GNA-The Most Reverend Peter Akwasi Sarpong, Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, has called on Ghanaians to complement efforts of government in providing good quality health. He noted that government alone could not improve health delivery and said the Catholic Church was supporting policies aimed at moving the sector forward.
Rev Sarpong speaking at the inauguration of a mortuary, an ambulance and a laundry for the Saint Patrick’s Hospital at Offinso on Friday.
The Surgeon Noonan Society of Ireland, at the cost of 120 million cedis, provided the mortuary, the Offinsoman Unity Club, based in Israel donated the laundry equipment that cost 27 million cedis and the hospital purchased the ambulance at 100 million cedis. The Ghana Health Service also donated a refrigerator to the hospital at the cost of 500 million cedis.
Archbishop Sarpong commended the donors for the gesture and said it would help facilitate health delivery in the area.
Mr Dennis Adjei, a Kumasi-based lawyer, urged management of the hospital to ensure the regular maintenance of the facilities to ensure their longer life span.
