Ghanaians asked to be mindful of their utterances

Takoradi April 11, GNA – Most Reverend Bishop John Martin Darko, Catholic Bishop of Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, on Saturday called on Ghanaians, especially politicians, public officers and the clergy to be mindful of their utterances to safeguard the peace, unity and stability of the country.

In an Easter message released at Takoradi, he said, “Our politicians should have our country Ghana at heart and not their petty and egoistic gains”.

Bishop Darko said Ghana was greater than any political party and the interest of Ghanaians should be considered before that of any political party. He said people who preached and practiced violence were selfish and did not love the nation Bishop Darko said love was the only armour against sin and evil and called on Christians to make sacrifices to ensure progress adding, “Christ sacrificed himself and not others”. He said the recent spate of road accidents in the country had spiritual dimension and that some Ghanaians were not spiritually inclined.

Bishop Darko expressed worry that some commercial drivers were being driven by the love for money and sordid gain and did not value the lives of passengers and road users.
