Ghanaians asked to actively participate in constitution review process

Mamponteng (Ash) June 9, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr Alhassan Yakubu has called on Ghanaians to join in efforts at promoting good governance by actively participating in the constitution review process.

He said the review was meant to help deepen the country’s democratic practice and this should be appreciated as a collective responsibility. Mr. Yakuku said was speaking at a community level consultation held by the Constitution Review Commission at Mamponteng in the Kwabre-East District.

Chiefs, assembly members, political party representatives and members of civil society organizations participated. Mr. Yakuku advised the people against politicization of the on-going consultations and put the national interest ahead of individual political ambition.

He said that the process would help in the gathering of recommendations to satisfy the expectations of the people and strengthen the unity and cohesion of the nation. Mr Adams Iddisah, Kwabre-East District Chief Executive, encouraged the people to express their views on the 1992 Constitution.
