Kumasi, May 10, GNA – A businessman has appealed to Ghanaians not to allow their emotions or provocations to ”lure them into insulting or casting insinuations against the presidency.”
Mr Opoku-Agyemang Prempeh, the Managing Director of Lakayana Company, a private construction and debt collection firm, said Ghanaians should shy away from insulting the Office of the President and to avoid attacking the personality of the President.
Mr Prempeh said this when he addressed the opening session of a one-day workshop for virgins clubs drawn from the Kumasi Metropolitan Area on Monday.
The workshop, organised by the Centre for Moral Education (CEMED), was aimed at equipping the clubs with skills for conducting education campaigns on good morals and national issues. Mr Prempeh said insulting the President would undermine the country’s democracy.
“The President was elected by the majority of the people and for that matter any insult on him amounts to an insult on the intelligence of Ghanaians”, he added.
Mr Prempeh called on members of the virgins club not to limit themselves to issues related to morality but also delve into enlightening people about their rights and responsibilities.
