Aflao, May 23, GNA-A circuit court at Aflao on Monday granted 100 million cedis bail with one surety to a Ghanaian woman for human trafficking involving two Togolese teenagers.
The court ordered that the victims be handed over to the Togolese authorities for a re-union with their parents.
Kudi Larbi, 38, was on May 10, this year intercepted with the two teenagers by Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) personnel. A second suspect, whose name was not given, was said to have absconded while Larbi was being interrogated.
The court, presided over by Group Captain Martin Obeng-Ntim (rtd), which had denied Larbi bail at earlier sittings, ordered the accused who, pleaded not guilty to come before the court again on May 24, this year.
Police Inspector Kofi Frimpong of Aflao told the court that on May 10 this year, Larbi, who is a businesswoman shuttling between Ghana and Nigeria was seen with two teenagers, a boy and girl, crossing over to Togo from Accra.
He said her explanation that the two, Kofi Agbesi, 15 and Abena Yaovi, 17, were being sent to Togo to help in the funeral of the father Shei Adebayo, a Togolese Footballer based in France did not convince the Immigration Officers and she was detained.
Both victims testifying as prosecution witnesses said they were not told where they were being sent.
They said prior to their journey to Aflao they were locked up in a room, and allowed to have their bath only at night. They also said they were warned not to lurk around the windows of the room so as not to attract the attention of passers-by.
