The Ghanaian Times reports that 30 Archaelogy students from the University of Ghan led by their lecturer Kadzo Gavua made historical discoveries digging in the Pinkwae Forest, near Katamanso. The paper says, the students dug at the area, venue for war between the ‘Ashantis on one hand, and Ga Adangbes and the British on the other in 1826, abandoned pots of the Ashantis, a metal box containing a pair of scissors, a sword and beads that suggested a noble inhabitor or an ancestral chief.
Found at another location was a bowl engraved with date 1800, human teeth, fishing hook and a coil of copper wire. Old gin bottles and several 19th century coins wer also found there Dr. Gavua, according to the story, informed of the physical presence of guerrillva war trenches used by the Ga-Adanghes during the war. He said the found items will first be sent for analysis at the University before being deposited at a katamanso museum. In a front page story, the Times reports also that the Ghana Standards Board (GSB) and the Food and Drugs Board 9FDB) has warned that UB Hair Relaxer product, currently on Ghanaian extensive loss of hair on application.
