Ghanaian Times

“Confusion at Kitase…90% of buildings wrongly sited, Survey Dept orders re-demarcation”, says the Times in a lead headline story. The paper reports that improper land surveying by quacks, has thrown land developers in the Kitase-Peduase area in the Akuapem South District of the Eastern Region into a state of confusion. The Times says many wealthy individuals from various parts of the country have flocked to the towns in the area, including Peduase, Aburi and Kitase, to buy plots because of the attractive scenery and serene climatic conditions. Mansions of various types and shapes are reported springing up but about 90 per cent of structures in the area have been found by the Eastern Region Survey Department to be wrongly sited, resulting in the lac of access roads and encroachment on places earmarked for public facilities. This has been a matter of concern to the chief of Kitase, Nana Adu Ampoma II and his elders.
