“Some earn 5,000 cedis a month…SSNIT is worried”, is the shocking headline on the front page of the Times. The story quotes Mr Robert Lomoko, Birim South District Manager of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) as saying that some private companies at Akim Oda pay a monthly salary of 5,000 cedis to their employees.

In another front page story headlined: “Govt to return unused lands”, the Times reports that the government will return all lands which have been found unnecessary for the purpose for which they were acquired, to their owners.

“IRS targets 850 billion cedis revenue”, is the headline of an inside page story of the Times which says the Inmternal Revenue Servgice (IRS) intends to collect 850 billion cedis as tax revenue this year.

The Times in a third front page story heading: “IRS staff warned against bribery”, reports the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Mr David Adom, as asking personnel of the service to desist from demanding money from people before processing their papers.

“River Offin is poisoned…Man 28, arrested”, is the disturbing banner headline on the front page of the Times.

In another front page headlined: “Pusiga angry with VRA”, the Times reports that the timely intervention of the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Hajia Fati Seidu, has eased tension that was mounting at Pusiga over the failure of the Volta River Authority (VRA) to connect the area to the national electricity grid.
