Ghanaian Student Falls To Her Death

THE death of a foreign student who fell from the window of a University of Liverpool building is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Dorcas Assan, who is from Ghana, died after plummeting from the ten storey Roxby Building, in Myrtle Street.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man at the scene.

But the results of a post-mortem show the 29-year-old woman’s injuries were most probably inflicted due to a fall and the man has been released without charge.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: “The results of a post-mortem shows she suffered multiple injuries consistent with a fall.

“A 35-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge.”

It is thought Mrs Assan was studying on a post graduate geography course and took lessons in the building where she fell from.

She was living in Liverpool with her husband at the time of her death and she has sisters living in other parts of the country.

They have informed Mrs Assan’s family in Ghana about the tragic incident.

An inquest was today being opened at Liverpool coroners court into the student’s death.
