Ghanaian resident in Italy donates to Orphanage

Denase (Ash), Jan.11, GNA – Mr William Opoku Amanfo, Ghanaian philanthropist residing in Italy on Saturday donated clothes valued at GH¢ 500.00 to the Ashan Children’s Home located at Denase near Kodie in the Afigya-Kwabre District of Ashanti.

The clothes, including 100 pieces of new T-shirts, some used clothes and GH¢ 50.00 cash, were presented to the 68 inmates who are destitute and brought to the Home from other parts of the country. Mr Amanfo said it was prudent that such people were remembered everyday and not only on festive occasions to make them feel part of the society. He noted that as a member of the Asanteman Union in Italy, he had allowed himself to be used by God to put smiles on the faces of the needy at all times.

Mr Jim Akwasi Konadu, Founder of the Home thanked the donors for the gesture.

He appealed to Ghanaians not to spend their monies on luxuries but help to ensure that the unfortunate ones did not become a burden on society.

Mr Konadu explained that if the people were ignored, they would end up becoming social deviants who would turn against the society. He appealed to individuals and groups to help complete a Babies’ Ward which was under construction to enable the Home to cater for the babies.
