Ghanaian Professor gets ‘big’ appointment in USA

A Ghanaian Professor based in the USA, Professor Kwame Awuah-Offei has been appointed as part of a 38-member Advisory Board on Mineral and Energy Royalty Policy Committee by United States Secretary of Interior.

Kwame is one of the alternates for the Academic and Public Interest Groups is the only African to have been appointed to the board.

Kwame received his BSc in Mining Engineering from University of Mines & Technology (UMaT) and graduated with First Class Honors in 2001. He later pursued his PhD in Mining Engineering at University of Alberta, Canada and Missouri University of Science & Technology (Missouri S&T), USA, receiving his PhD at Missouri S&T.

He attended St. John’s Secondary School, Sekondi, and St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast, where he studied for his General Certificate of Education Ordinary and Advanced Levels, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor in Mining Engineering at Missouri S&T.

Professor Kwame Awuah-Offei is an expert advisor to a team of Ghanaian mining professionals across the world who is preparing to help resolve mining challenges in his home country, Ghana.
