Accra, July 17, GNA – A US-based Ghanaian Mathematics teacher, Mr Augustine Anyimadu-Ahenkae has been honoured by the New York City Chancellor of Education for his outstanding and exemplary role in projecting the image of New York Public schools.
Mr Joel Klein, the Chancellor, said Mr Anyimadu-Ahenkae’s outstanding commitment had enabled students to succeed from semester to semester at Bronx Aerospace High School, as he would not take failure of any kid as an option.
In a statement made available to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Klein praised the teacher saying: “Thank you for all the wonderful things you are doing for our kids and for not giving up on our city’s kids.”
He said Bronx High School had consistently maintained its position among the top of New York City public schools over the past few years and many had attributed the success to excellent leadership of the principal and the hard work of the teachers, notably Mr Anyimadu-Ahenkae.
Mr Anyimadu-Ahenkae gave credit first to Jesus who gives him the love and patience that makes him not give up on any kid, even the most difficult ones, until they succeed.
He also praised the Principal, Captain Barbara Kirkweg who would provide anything necessary for teachers to see the children succeed. Mr Anyimadu-Ahenkae announced that he was making his secrets and methods available by writing Mathematics and English Textbooks aimed at making the subjects very easy for even the weakest of students. The textbooks are expected to be completed before the September this year.
In addition, he said, he intended to write Junior and Senior High School Math and English textbooks for Ghanaian schools.
