Ghanaian Kills Wife in Sacramento California

SACRAMENTO ?– Deanna Ofoe knew she was in danger before she was stabbed to death in a parking lot at Kaiser Medical Center.
That warning came from Women Escaping a Violent Environment or WEAVE.
The group helped the 41 year old mother of two file a restraining order against her husband Wisdom.
The order obtained by FOX40 News describes years of verbal and emotional abuse and threats by William. The report says, ?he would leave the country and take the children. I believe he meant what he said which is why I remained in the marriage.?
And there?s more in the report, Deanna claimed that her husband tried to poison her two weeks ago and left the car running in the garage while she slept.
?She ran into my house shaking?we called the police?and then he had come home, then the police talked to him, and then he left,? says Sue Smith, who was her closest friend.
?There was no evidence of domestic violence,? says R. L. Davis of Sacramento?s Sheriff?s Dept.
The Sheriff?s Department says their hands were tied because there was no evidence of injury, a weapon, or a witness.
R. L. Davis says when they can?t make an arrest,”we provide them with information that allows them to get a restraining order.?
That order allows them to arrest someone for simply getting too close to a subject. But her husband filed a restraining order of his own.
William Ofoe told a judge that his wife had threatened to kill him, and that she had taken his children from him.
WEAVE says they?re surprised a judge signed the order.
?It doesn?t contain any specifics, and it contains hearsay,? says Nicolette Bautista, the C.E.O of WEAVE.
WEAVE say William fits the profile of many abusers.
?They can generally talk their way out of anything,? says Bautista.
WEAVE say restraining orders work much more often than not. It just didn?t work in this case
