Ghanaian journalists to train in China next year

Accra, Nov. 2, GNA – China is rolling out a training package for Ghanaian journalists, to broaden their horizon on the culture of the Asian giant and sharpen their skills. Mr Gong Jianzhong, Chinese Ambassador, made this known on Tuesday, when he paid a courtesy call to the Management of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra to acquaint himself with the operations of the wire service.

Mr Gong expressed his appreciation to journalists and media houses in the country for portraying China positively to Africa and the rest of the world. The Ambassador, a former journalist was full of praises for Ghana for supporting China’s decision to join countries in the United Nations with veto powers.

He cited political stability, transparency, investments by Chinese Government and citizens living abroad, unity of purpose and sister-city partnership with western countries as some of the forces behind the rapid development of his country. Mr Gong commended the GNA for its good works in the local media landscape and outside the shores of Ghana.

He pledged China’s commitment in partnering Government in the achievement of its ‘Better Ghana Agenda”. He called for the sustenance of relations between Ghana and China, which started some 50 years ago.

He lauded President John Atta Mills for his visit to China, which he deemed as highly beneficial for the bilateral relations. Nana Apau Duah, General Manager of GNA, expressed his appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for its numerous assistance to the Agency and called for the sustenance of the relationship. Mr Boakye-Danquah Boadi, Supervising Chief Editor, pledged the commitment of GNA to report on issues bordering on the interest of China.
