Ghanaian held for stealing from villas

SHARJAH, UAE: Sharjah Police has recently arrested an African national from Ghana for stealing from various villas in Sharjah.

Authorities had recently received complaints from residents in several villas in the emirate and through investigations, they began to suspect an African national.

He was caught red-handed with a laptop, two iPads, two mobile phones, a digital camera, a sum of money as well stolen jewellery.

The burglar was arrested after robbing a villa in the Rifaa area of Sharjah. On arrest, he confessed to stealing from the villa in addition to other houses in the emirate.

Based on his confession, the suspect was detaind and he will be referred the public prosecution.

Sharjah Police is urging villa owners to ensure that they have locked their villas and that they have placed their precious belongings in a safe place so that robbers cannot easily find these.

People are urged to immediately contact the police in case they notice any suspicious behaviour of people around their homes and contact authorities at the toll free number on 800151 or through their fax number 065529000.
