Ghanaian Forward Ben Opoku Secures Surprise Bundesliga Move to Hoffenheim

Ghanaian striker Ben Opoku has completed a shock move to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, signing from German fourth-tier outfit SC Switch.

The 21-year-old forward has enjoyed a breakout season in the lower leagues, registering 10 goals and 4 assists in the recently concluded campaign, a performance that caught the eye of top-flight scouts.

Opoku’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Just a year ago, he was a relatively unknown name in the semi-professional ranks, but now he finds himself training with some of the Bundesliga’s elite.

“It’s a dream come true,” Opoku told reporters after signing his contract. “I’ve worked hard for this, and I’m ready to give everything to prove I belong at this level.”

Opoku has already featured for Germany at youth level, scoring once in four appearances for the U18 side, but remains eligible to represent Ghana at senior level.

Opoku joins a long line of Ghanaian talents plying their trade in Europe’s top leagues and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of compatriots like Mohammed Kudus and others.

His debut could come as early as August when the Bundesliga returns for the 2025/26 season.
