Ghanaian elected International Vice-President of CILT

Accra, May 17, GNA – Mr Teete Owusu-Nortey, Honorary Secretary of Ghana section and a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, (CILT) has been appointed the International Vice-President of the institute.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by the institute said Mr Owusu-Nortey was elected to serve a three-year term by a unanimous decision at the just ended International Council and Conference meeting of the institute in Accra, the first time in Africa. It said as International Vice-President, Mr Owusu-Nortey would have responsibility of overseeing activities of the institute in African countries.

These are Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi.

The statement said he would be required to contribute to CILT’s understanding of opportunities and challenges both in general and specific terms for the Africa region and put his expertise and support at the disposal of national councils, independent sections and branches in the region.

It said in addition, Mr Owusu-Nortey would be expected to encourage local councils/sections to promote and develop membership in the region and champion the cause of countries in the region elected to the council.

The statement said other responsibilities included development of issues, papers and considerations in the field of transport logistics expertise, as well as in the development of the institute’s strategy. It said Mr Owusu-Nortey as Vice-President would ensure the International President was updated with major matters in the operations of the institute in the region.

“He could be assigned from time to time to represent the International President and to chair a committee or oversee a project,” it added. Mr Owusu-Nortey is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Yetron Services Limited, an advertising agency. President John Agyekum Kufuor and Princess Ann of Britain, an Honorary Past President of CILT attended the opening session of the conference.
