Ghanaian dies in Parma

The Parma Police in Italy are still carrying out investigation following the death of a Ghanaian in the city. The death of Samuel Dateh occurred on Tuesday 16th September, at 5a.m in the main hospital – ‘Ospedale di Parma’.

According to the police he was at the Parma train station on Monday evening 15th September likely to board a train when passengers realised he was not feeling well and alerted the station authourities.

An ambulance was quickly called in and was rushed to hospital where he was placed under care for what the police could only say he was suffering from his lungs. But Samuel Dateh died in the early hours of Tuesday.

The police discovered he has no residence in the city or elsewhere in Italy and his Ghanaian passport which has multiples of visas indicated he has travelled several times to Europe – presumably a businessman.

It was found out from his passport he left Ghana on 12th September and arrived in Holland the following day.

The police say the body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary whilst they wait for autopsy report to confirm his identity from finger print in his passport and cause of death.

The Ghana Embassy in Rome has been alerted and the decease who is 56 was not seen with anyone when taken ill and rushed to the hospital.
