Ghanaian defender Emmanuel Twumasi has made a move to Poland’s top-flight club Piast Gliwice, signing a two-year contract. The 28-year-old, who previously played for FC Dallas in the American MLS, has been a free agent since January.
Twumasi is Piast’s third summer signing, following the arrivals of French midfielder Quentin Boisgard from Apollon Limassol and Spanish striker Adrian Dalmau from Korona Kielce. The club is reinforcing its squad under the leadership of new coach Max Moelder, who took over after Serbian Aleksandar Vukovic stepped down in March.
Piast Gliwice, which finished 10th in the league last season, is looking to climb the ranks under the 40-year-old Swedish tactician. Moelder brings fresh energy to the team, having honed his coaching skills at Sweden’s Landskrona BolS, where he served as an assistant before becoming head coach in 2023.
Twumasi’s arrival is seen as a step toward bolstering the defensive line for the upcoming campaign. The Ghanaian, known for his pace and defensive prowess, expressed enthusiasm for joining the Polish side and contributing to their success.
The summer break has been a busy period for Piast, with the departure of 12 players whose contracts expired in June. With a mix of new signings and a fresh managerial approach, the Silesian club is gearing up for a revitalized push in the Polish Ekstraklasa.
