Ghanaian Culture Shakes Berlin

The German capital, Berlin was shaken to its foundations as Ghanians potrayed their culture as part of activities of their country`s 50th independence anniverssary.

Under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Mr Grant Ohemeng Kesse, Ghana`s Ambassador to Germany, a large number of Ghanaians, friends of Ghana and members of the Diplomatic Corps converged on the grounds of the Embassy to witness the rich Ghanaian culture.

Dubbed by observers as one of the best organised cultural events in the German capital in recent memory, the programme presented the diversity in Ghanaian culture, dance and oral tradition as each of the ten regions of the country paraded the beauty of their distinct culture.

July 30, 2007 would go down in history as the day Ghanaians would remember with pride and affection for their country. A number of lessons emerged from the event which the authorities would do well to take note of: That culture is one commodity that could draw immense benefits for Ghana if properly pakaged and marketed to the outside world.

Ambassador Ohemeng Kesse urged his compatriots in an address to think of what they can do for their country adding that the recent announcement of the discovery of oil in Ghana calls for a period of reflection and proper planning.

He announced the Government`s decision to liberalise the country`s energy sector and invited German companies to take advantage of the measure to invest in the country.
