Ghanaian Community in Lebanon in Grief

Beirut ? The Ghanaian community is embracing itself for its third burial in ten months.

The funeral of Cynthia Hooper, 31, the fourth Ghanaian who had died this year, and the third to be buried by the community, will take place at the Marble Latin Church in Fanar on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at 12:30pm. Fr. Theo Vlugt, SJ, (Pastoral Commission on Afro-Asian Migrants in Lebanon), will officiate the Funeral Mass which will be attended by the Ghanaian community as well as friends and well-wishers.

Like the previous two deaths ? Rebecca Boadi and Richard Nyarko Benjamin, the news of Cynthia?s illness reached the community in a time and state when chances of getting her home to Ghana for better treatment was limited. Nevertheless, all efforts were made, but to no avail.

Cynthia Hooper died of a complicated illness, three months after given birth to a baby boy.

The Ghanaian Community in Lebanon sends its condolences to family and friends. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
