Ghanaian Community In China Retained Executives

On the 7th July, 2012, Ghanaians in China held a meeting to elect new executives since the governing constitution requires elected members to stay in office for one year.
Nomination was opened but no member filed his or her name to contest the old executives and the house therefore unanimously retained the old leaders.

MR. JAMES ASARE TANO, CHAIRMAN
MR. BEN OWUSU-ACHIAW, VICE CHAIRMAN
MR. DAVID NANA APPIAH KUBI, SECRETARY
MR. DONALD ATANGA, TREASURER
MR. ADINKRA YEBOAH, FINANCIAL SECRETARY
MR. SETH MORTON, ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER
MRS. KATE ATA, PATRON
ELDER FRIMPONG, PATRON.

In their acceptance speech, the Chairman on behalf of the executives thanked the entire members for the confidence and trust they have reposed in them. He expressed profound gratitude to the Ghana Embassy in China and Guangzhou Public Security Department for the power and recognition given to the community leaders. In the same regard, Mr. James Asare Tano praised the executives for their unflinching support and dedication towards the numerous achievements of the community.

He also expressed his appreciation towards traders who pay homage to his office anytime they visit China. He admonished Ghanaian businessmen/women to be extra careful in dealing with factories or trading companies which do not have good reputation and business accreditation. He recounted a number of cases involving Ghanaians duped and robbed by miscreants at Canaan market in Guangzhou. A typical example is a businessman who deals in mobile phones at Kwame Nkrumah Circle was robbed by three Chinese ladies of Sixty One Thousand Seven Hundred USD ( 61,700USD ). One of these three ladies was arrested by the victim and taken to Canaan Police Station and later released.

Mr. James Asare Tano called on Ghanaians who ply their trade in China to visit the Community Office anytime they are in Guangzhou for members to guide and assist them in their procurement and shipment processes. According to him, traders fall on his outfit whenever there is a problem or they need their intervention when their Chinese counterparts go contrary to business agreements. He told the few Ghanaian traders present at the meeting that, Ghanaian Community is for every Ghanaian in or coming to China for business.

In another development, the chairman took the opportunity to elaborate some of the gains by made the community under his stewardship despite daunting challenges faced by his outfit. He called on Ghanaians who have overstayed in China and are willing to go home to submit their names and passport numbers to his office before the end of this month.

On the political scene, Ghanaian Community is calling on all religious groups in Ghana to pray fervently towards the December general elections. The Community is also appealing to the two main political parties to advise their members to desist from statements which inflame passions and can plunge the country into pandemonium. Let Ghanaians in their God given wisdom elect a leader they believe can steer the affairs our dear nation..

The executives would like to use this medium to apologize to all members for the sudden postponement of the one year anniversary celebration. Members should be assured that the celebration shall come on and the date will be announced soon. For further enquiry, Ghanaians are advised to call or mail us through the number and email below.
