Ghanaian Community in British Columbia Extends Condolences

The Ghanaian-Canadian Association of British Columbia (GCABC) has extended its deepest condolences to the family of the late President of Ghana, His Excellency Professor John Atta-Mills, died suddenly on July 24, 2012.

A statement signed by the president of the Association, Professor Charles Quist-Adade said the membership learned with shock and sadness the president passed on the cusp of completion of his first term in office.

The statement read in part: “A Mighty Tree has fallen. It’s with a heavy heart and deepest sorrow that I inform you that His Excellency, President John Atta Mills has passed away. He left this side of reality to join our ancestors and the Creator on Tuesday afternoon. “

“On behalf of the entire membership of the Ghanaian community in BC, I extend the deepest condolences to the late president’s family. “

“May his soul rest in peace! And may Providence guide and protect our beloved country, Ghana in these trying moments. May his message of peace, tolerance, and respect for human dignity serve to unite Ghanaians everywhere as our nation marches on to an ever more stable, peaceful, and prosperous democracy. “

In the meantime, a book of condolence has been opened by Honorary Consul-General of Ghana in BC, Mr. George Piprah in his office, 6741 Cariboo Rd, Suite # 108, Burnaby, BC.
