Ghanaian Christians celebrate Easter

Accra, April 24, GNA – Ghanaian Christians today joined their counterparts throughout the world to celebrate Easter, the day God through His Holy Spirit resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead about 2,000 years ago, with church services and conventions. Preaching the sermon at the Ghana Police Church in Accra, the Chaplain=96General the Very Reverend Superintendent Frank D. Twum-Baah said the truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ set Christianity apart from all other religious system. This is because Jesus is alive. “Without the resurrection there will be no basis for Christianity. Because He rose from the dead we have the assurance of forgiveness of our sins and of eternal life. The message from the tomb is Jesus is alive. It is a message of hope,” he said. Very Rev. Twum-Baah said anyone 93who comes to Christ begins a life-long journey. As we go along we are bound to encounter difficulties but these should not detract us because we know that we are part of God’s plan. “The new life is bestowed by God through His Holy Spirit. It is a gift from God and not earned through our individual or collective efforts. Under the new life our lives are hidden in Christ,” he added. The Chaplain-General said: 93The new life is the reception of Jesus Christ. The new life is available to all and all should avail themselves of the opportunity by accepting Jesus Christ,” adding that beneficiaries of the new life always 93seek to live to please God”.
