Ghanaian, Cameroonian arrested on drugs charges

Two men of Cameroonian and Ghanaian nationalities have been nailed by officers from the drug squad in a drug related case in the capital and largest city of Cyprus, Nicosia.

Cyprus Mail reports that at around 8.25pm on Wednesday night officers attempted to stop and check the Cameroonian man who was on foot.

Nearby, other officers stopped a car being driven by a 27-year-old Ghanaian man that the Cameroonian had been a passenger in earlier on, police said.

The Cameroonian tried to escape and struck one of the officers and was arrested for assault, police said. The 27-year-old was also arrested as he was not in possession of any identification, the site reported.

During a search of the area where the two were arrested, officers found around 410 grammes of a white powder believed to be cocaine in plastic containers.

The Ghanaian’s flat was later searched and two computers were found and confiscated as police believe they were stolen.
