Press Release : FOR IMMIDIATE RELEASE. RE: GHANA’S 56TH INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION, TAMPA BAY FLORIDA.

Tampa, FL – On March 9, 2013, The Ghanaian Association of Tampa Bay, in commemoration of Ghana’s Independence Day is hosting Ghana’s 56th Independence Celebration. On March 6th, 1957, Ghana became the first Sub-Saharan African country to gain its independence.

Ghana’s independence inspired a wave of liberation struggles across Africa and beyond. In regards to this achievement, Ghanaians home and abroad hold their independence day in Reverence and pride. The Executives and members of The Tampa Bay Ghanaian Association have therefore planned to celebrate this year’s Ghana’s Independence and the 5th Annual Kente & Traditional Night at the Luxurious Tampa Palms Golf Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd, Tampa, Florida.

The Theme of the celebrations is “Unity In Progress”, to emphasize on the expected achievements we can make if we unite for a common purpose. The Celebration kicks off with a Social Hour & Red Carpet Event from 7 p.m to 8 p.m; followed by a traditional authentic Ghanaian and American dinner, and entertainment. The celebrations will feature several performances. This includes cultural dances from the various regions in Ghana, poetry recitals by Ghanaian youth and live band. The finale of the evening will be the crowning of Mr. & Mrs. Ghana 2013 Tampa Bay. It will be a night of cultural performances never seen in the Tampa Bay area before.
