Ghana@50 Commission postpones appearance of Kwadwo Mpiani

Accra, Oct. 19, GNA – The Ghana@50 Commission on Monday postponed the appearance of the former Chief of Staff, Mr Kwadwo Mpiani to Friday October 23, 2009, because one of the commissioners was not available.

The Commission’s Press Liaison Officer Ato Kobby, who announced the postponement, said one of the commissioners was attending to an emergency duty, thus the other two could not form a quorum for the hearing. He said the Commission had scheduled, October 20 for Mr Mpiani to appear before it but his Counsel, Mr Egbert Faibille said that his client=

had other engagements that would take him out of Accra on Tuesday and Wednesday and both sides agreed that he should appear on Friday. Kobby also announced that the Commission would, from next week, hear= testimonies from former District Chief Executives (DCE’s) who were asked to appear before it.

So far, 24 of the DCE’s have reported to the Commission. Last week the Commission warned that the security agencies would be asked to locate those who had failed to appear before it. 19 Oct 09
