Accra, March 21, GNA – Ghana and Zimbabwe are to explore avenues through joint programmes that would help to promote tourism between the two nations.
This was agreed on Tuesday when the Zimbabwean Ambassador Mr Pavelyn Tandai Musaka called on Ghana’s Tourism Minister, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey in Accra.
A major issue that was discussed was the possibility of Ghana International Airline (GIA) flying direct to Harare but no concrete decision was arrived on that.
The Ambassador officially invited Ghana to participate in the upcoming Zimbabwean Travel Expo scheduled for October 2006 and said there was the need for Africa nations to promote joint marketing strategies in the area of tourism.
Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey said Ghana had always agitated for the promotion of multi-destinations tourism in Africa through the removal of impediments to tourism development by nations.
He said this would pave the way for further exploration of tourism potentials on the Continent and make the Sector to champion the cause of growth for most nations.
