Accra, June 30, GNA – Ghana would continue to treasure and respect the support of Iran in her socio-economic development, President John Agyekum Kufuor said in Accra on Monday.
He was speaking when the outgoing Iran Ambassador in Ghana, Mr Majid Bismark paid a farewell call on him at the Castle, Osu. Mr Bismark assumed duty in Ghana on March 22, 2001.
President Kufuor commended Mr Bismark for a successful duty tour, adding, “you have been quiet but effective in your duties in Ghana. “You should continue to remember Ghana positively for the good works you did”, he said.
Mr Bismark commended President Kufuor for his leadership role in ensuring the maintenance of peace and stability within the West African Sub-Region.
He said Iran was prepared to establish another clinic in Ghana to improve on the health needs of the people.
The Iranian Ambasador said there had been tremendous improvement in the relationship between both countries especially in education, health, culture, agriculture and rural development.
He said there were about 300 Iranians in Ghanaian and an additional 120 students were expected next academic year.
