Ghana Tops USA Visa Lottery Wins

Ghanaian applicants topped the results of the year 2002 United States of America Visa lottery results received worldwide, with 6,531 winners. Nigeria followed closely with 6,049 winners while Sierra Leone and Bangladesh placed third and fourth respectively with 5,497 winners.

In all 90,000 winners were selected at random from 10 million qualified entries. Out of the 90,000,winners, the first 50,000 applicants who pass interviews will be granted US resident visas.

The applicants must provide proof of a high school education or its equivalent or show two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience within the past five years.

A statement issued by the US Department of State announced that this year’s dates for the mailing of applications for the year 2003 lottery have been scheduled from October 1, 2001 until October 31, 2001. Instructions on entry would be published in the newspapers in late July or August.

It warned people to refrain from paying monies to companies who claim they can enhance their chances of winning since according to statement “the selection of winners is made at random and no outside service can improve an applicant’s chances of being chosen or guarantee that an entry will win.”
