Ghana today needs political stability – Deacon Mensah

Elmina (C/R), Nov 23, GNA – Deacon Awortwi Mensah of the Pedu Catholic Seminary, on Sunday said that Ghana did not want any coups that would bring political instability to the country.

He said bloodshed, sufferings, poverty, maiming of the innocent, derailment of economic progress that were associated with coups should not only be things of the past and prayed to “God Almighty to intervene and prevent it for us”.

Leading an intercessory prayer at a Church Service to the mark Corpus Christi, at the Elmina Saint Joseph’s Church, Deacon Mensah said instability or coups brought into memory the painful experiences that people went through in sister African countries. Corpus Christi reminds Christians about the establishment of Jesus’ Kingship in the world.

He recalled the experiences of Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sudan, Rwanda and Burundi and said: “In the Name of Jesus, we bind all those who will rise against constitutional rule to overthrow our Government.” Deacon Mensah told his congregation who responded “Amen” that they did not have anywhere to go and could not live in strange lands. Earlier in a sermon, he urged Christians to cast their burdens to the care of Jesus, who was the only one that would solve their problems.
